Shedding.
And that was the inspiration behind this shoot. Over the past handful of years, I feel like I’ve finally begun to explore who I truly am as a queer person. I identify as a woman, but according to traditional societal standards, I do not embody the expected characteristics of a woman in our culture. What does “being a woman” even really mean, though? And who even makes up those rules? So with this photoshoot, I wanted to bend the “rules” and capture the essence of who I am as a woman by presenting a masculine and feminine visual simultaneously to simply shatter the preconceived idea of what a female should look like. In a sense, shedding all of the constructs of my old life to be reborn into who I am today. All credit to Brooke Hamilton for taking this idea and actually making it a reality that lives within these pictures.
